Tower of the DEAD (jam edition)
A downloadable game for Windows
Welcome... to Tower of the DEAD!
It's your job as an Arcane Execution Engineer to build units on your experimental prototype graveyard of spirits (EPGOF) and garner enough spirit power to summon the ancient deities. Don't worry about what happens after that, I'm sure it's great!
The game is free and downloadable for windows! A Mac build is coming!
How to Play:
Click once on a unit button to purchase it, then drag to the desired place on the grid and click once more to place it. Each unit has a cost (in SPIRIT), and will in turn generate a certain amount of spirit in the listed interval.
Spirit is your main currency: the souls of the dead *lucky* enough to be harvested here for your nefarious and/or glorious purposes! With more spirit and more graveyard units placed the higher your SUMMON POWER. You will win if you get your summon power to the maximum before your time runs out!
However, each unit also generates some CHAOS! Chaos is like entropy: things will just kind of happen. More expensive units will generate more spirit, but they will also generate more chaos! Beware!
Whenever your chaos rating reaches a boiling point, a CHAOS EVENT will transpire. Some of these are good: blessings from minor demons or beasts, sending spirit your way. Some are bad: environmental catastrophes or other inconvenient happenings that will suck your spirit. Others are terrible: jealous gods will smite you and destroy some of your units! The ground those units were on will be *cursed for eternity* and you won't be able to build on it anymore.
Play with chaos at your own peril! There is no way to be an execution engineer without *some* chaos (breaking eggs, making omelettes, etc) but you can choose to play higher or lower chaos based on your units.
Your objective is to raise your summoning power to its maximum, calling upon the elder gods to come over and do whatever elder gods do. Glory and all that. Oh, and do that before you lose your mind. Being exposed to high levels of unadulterated undead energy is dangerous to the mind, so you only have a couple minutes. You lose the game when you lose your mind. Them's the breaks!

I'm not entirely sure I got it mechanically (I guess too much chaos will salt the earth?), but I had a good time just because of the juice! It looked so good that I was just happy to put down new churches when they appeared.
