Broken Links

Broken Links is a bite-sized love letter to 8-bit puzzle action, especially inspired by classic Zelda and the Adventures of Lolo games! A mysterious evil has taken over the idyllic lands of Nestropia, and the iconic hero dispatched to send it packing got all messed up in a temporal freeze spell, fracturing the timeline and requiring a major rescue operation.

It’s up to you as Xenia the froggy paramedic-magician (para-magic for short) to topple three devious (and very short!) dungeons and ply your magic medicine to heal the hero and restore the timeline back to mythic bliss!

How to play:

Simply use the WASD or arrow keys to move around the world and interact with objects and obstacles. If you ever get stuck, press the spacebar to reset at the beginning of your current room.

Use a mouse to navigate menus and conversation options.

Hot Tips:

You need to get through the funky forest and the stinky sewers before you can get to the final area of the game: the malicious moon! You can attack them in either order, though.

In the funky forest, Xenia will encounter hostile, spiked vine throwing plant monsters! In these levels, you’ll need to vanquish each foe before the magical exit door appears.

Xenia is a really small frog, especially compared to the giant supply crates and moon boxes she encounters. If a box gets stuck while you are pushing it, take a step back and then run at it with a little more force: that usually does the trick. Xenia never skips leg day!

In both the stinky sewer and funky forest, a kindly NPC (er, citizen of Nestropia) will orient you towards your mission. You can chat with them very briefly and be on your way, or select conversation options that give you a more detailed lay of the land. Don’t you love choice!?
